Clearly, homosexuality has been a normal occurrence in nature and throughout history in many cultures. It bothers me that we have a society that’s willing to allow such bigotry on really weak premises.Using it to describe an object, such as an item of clothing, suggests that it is particularly flamboyant, often on the verge of being gaudy and garish. This usage predates the association of the term with homosexuality, but has acquired different connotations since the modern usage developed.

There are also many gay teens that are forced out of their homes by parents who are unable to deal with their teen’s sexuality. Even for those who remain at home, the tension that occurs when the teen comes out’ can push relationships between the parents and the child beyond breaking point. This can lead to verbal or even physical violent eruptions between both parties, leading to severe relational breakdown. The trauma of this resistance to the teen’s sexual identity can be emotionally devastating. This resistance may be particularly high in parents who have been raised with the conviction that homosexuality is always wrong.

In the 18th and 19th centuries British travelers, such as the poet Byron, would gravitate to Greece fed on these ancient stories that seemed to promise a grand gay culture in Greece. What they found was a very harsh patriarchal society that detested any form of homosexuality. Many of these ?Grand Tourists? were beaten and left Hellas black and blue.

But this isn’t the real reason I’m posting this hub. I hate to say that homosexuality and bisexuality are a genetic defect but after much study in the animals of nature that exhibit this behavior and the natural imperative all species share to procreate (whether this is done asexually or through a sexual means) it has come to my attention that homosexuality is vastly against the order of nature even IF it is exhibited in different species on Earth. Even so, you see these animals revert back to heterosexuality for the purpose of breeding. They don’t exist autonomously in homosexuality.

The Bible very clearly states that homosexuality is sin. From my understanding of Christian doctrine, it is God’s task to hate sin, not the average man’s. The average man following the precepts of Jesus of Nazareth must love sinners and try to win them over. The Christians who understand this often attempt to talk gays out of their sexual preference. I have seen this happen and it very rarely results in the elimination of homosexual tendencies. There is a flaw, however, in thinking “Homosexuality is wrong because the Bible says so.” There are many, many laws in the bible, and Christians do not uphold all of them. For instance, in Leviticus, we find the passage “Do not lay with a man as with a woman, it is abomination.” In the very next chapter, we find, “Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed,” “Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material,” and “Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it.”

Another aspect on the claim that homosexuality is abnormal comes from the scientific observation of the mating habits within our very own animal kingdom. Animals usually choose a mate of the opposite sex for reproductive reasons to further the continuation of their species as a biological instinct. This herein helps the argument that homosexuality is abnormal, but only if they focus on the what is on the surface. Digging a little deeper, it is widely well known that animals have tried or have actually mated with members of their own sex. In fact, many animals display homosexual tendencies. Same sex activity displayed between animals range from the act within mating rituals and social interactions. Homosexual tendencies within the animal kingdom do not always involve direct sexual stimulation either. This is the same in humans. On a different note, conservative religious groups and organizations greatly disagree. They firmly believe that sexual orientation is a matter of choice and that homosexuality is a god awful sin and those who engage in this type of “deviant” behavior will burn in hell and that homosexuality can be changed through counseling and prayer.

There is a relatively common belief that someone who is gay must have suffered some sexual trauma or has been influenced to make this decision by a gay adult. This is a myth as neither of these things influences sexuality. In the past, many have felt the need to hide their homosexuality and have lived their life feeling as though they are living a lie. However, in more recent times, teens are coming out’ much more often and at a younger age. While the question of homosexuality in the military has been highly politicized in the United States, it is not necessarily so in many countries. Generally speaking, sexuality in these cultures is considered a more personal aspect of one’s identity than it is in the United States. They are not the first state Supreme Court that has chosen to deny the continuing historical precedent of conservatism (fear of God) that our nation and its courts have held up from this nation’s conception to accept and promote that homosexuality is right and therefore should be allowed and promoted by law. The Iowa State Supreme Court, by their very action declared that our national constitution, (which was created by a body of men who by both word and action proved that they both loved and feared the God of the Bible) was designed to include and promote the vice of homosexuality. I say this is a lie from the pit of hell. It is simply the wickedness of their own hearts being expressed through the judicial position that they occupy.

You probably are wondering if you can call yourself a Christian and be sexually involved with a homosexual partner, even in the context of marriage (aka “holy matrimony”). I’m writing this hub, addressing this subject, because some people believe in Christian homosexuality; some people do not. I tend to be the latter, based on what I read in the Bible, which I will share with you here. If you are Christian, you really need to ask the Holy Spirit to convict you of what is right in the eyes of the God of the Bible.
